What is Translation Memory
TM is source and target human translations stored and aligned into segments
(usually sentences) in a database. Using TM for both machine and human
translation ensures consistent and perfect translations of "standard phrases".
How can TM improve Machine Translation quality
Documents are scanned at Translution Central and compared with your TM
before the document is sent for machine translation. If a 100% match TM is found
this is used in preference to the machine translation.
This ensures that perfect translations are provided for standard terms, parts lists,
invoices and other pieces of text used regularly in your business.
How can TM reduce publication quality translation costs?
Much of the text that is translated by an organisation or even within a single
large document will have a large amount of repetition. Different employees also
often pay for the exact same document to be translated again unaware that it
has already been done.
Storing, managing and using TM can therefore reduce the cost of professional
translation as re-using existing translations saves translators time.

Translation Memory Alignment
Most translation agencies do not provide their customers' with translation
memory automatically unless this has been specifically requested. This can
"lock" customers into using a specific translation agency. It also means that
the translation memory is not available to use with Translution's software.
Translution can take your existing translations and, using special software,
align these documents to produce Translation Memory.
Translation Memory Storage and Management
Where you have commissioned publishing quality translation projects from us,
there is no limit to the amount of TM that we store. We manage and backup your
TM as long as you continue to use Translution.
At any time, because you "own" the TM you can request that we provide this to
you.
The only time we charge you is if we are asked to import TM
which has not been initially created by Translution’s approved translation
agencies.
